Importance of protecting the traditional tank and village system
Environmentalists have pointed out the importance of protecting the traditional tank and village system in the dry zone. Environmentalist Prof. P.B. Dharmasena notes that the destruction of this traditional tank and village system has made it difficult for the people in the dry zone to face even a minor drought.
වියළි කලාපයේ පවතින දීර්ඝ කාලීන නියඟයට ඔරොත්තු දීමට නම් සම්පදායික වැව් ගම්මාන පද්ධතිය ආරක්ෂා කරගත යුතුව ඇතැයි පරිසරවේදීහු පෙන්වා දෙති. ඒ සඳහා රජයේ විධිමත් මැදිහත් වීමක් සහ මේ පිළිබඳ ජනතාවගේ අවබෝධය වැදගත් වන බව පරිසරවේදීන්ගේ අදහසවී තිබේ.
